Christmas Sand Tarts

Ingredients:
2 1/2 Cups Flour
1 Cup Sugar
1/2 Stick of Butter
1/4 Cup Shortening
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Baking Soda

Mix above ingredients , then in another bowl mix...

1 Egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp Light corn syrup
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 Cup Buttermilk
Make a well in dry ingredients then mix in liquids. CHILL OVERNIGHT. very important.

Directions:
Use lots of flour- will be sticky. Roll dough thin and use cookie cutters to cut out cookies. Use spatula to movie cookie onto cookie sheet. Make Egg wash (1 egg, 1 TLB water) and lightly brush on cookies. No puddles! Sprinkle sugars, decorations, sugar/cinnamon mix (whatever you want) on cookies. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Don't re-roll scraps more than 2 times or cookie will turn out tough.
*We used what seemed to be a ton of flour, and don't roll out cookie dough too thin.
